Our old roof was 22 or 23 years old, and it leaked a bit during the heavy winter rains. Dadario came out and repaired it, and suggested, politely, that it was probably time for a new roof. We agreed! I’m not in the habit of writing reviews, but roofing your house is expensive, and who doesn’t want to read a long winded review to get great quality at a fair price?
There are lots of considerations when choosing a roofing contractor and Daddario checks all the boxes, and more. They have done several repair and re-roofing jobs for family and friends, and everyone was extremely pleased with their work.
Despite their Daddario’s excellent reputation, we did our due diligence, and got four estimates, and Daddario came out on top in every category.
1. Estimate/bid: scheduled quickly, punctual, and flexible.
2. The work: professional, expert knowledge, exceptional skill, fast, friendly and accommodating.
3. The warranty: the best in the business. It was the longest and transferrable.
4. The people; everyone, at every level did a fantastic job. The employees seems to genuinely enjoy working for this company and it shows in the end result. Many employees have been with Daddario for decades.
The office staff was friendly, knowledgeable and communicative.
The estimator’s bid was timely and the most comprehensive we received.
The roofers were amazing; they showed up early, worked late and exceeded expectations. They were very skilled and quickly solved problems, hard working, fast, friendly and good natured.
5. Integrity/Quality: Hardworking, on time, no upselling, no hidden costs, clear communication and input. They don’t cut corners and the job site was cleaned every day.
*As a side note; a private business insurance adjuster came by (unannounced) to make sure they were using all the safety precautions (of course, they were) and this was his unsolicited comment, “yeah, this is a really good company, their workers are experienced, skilled, and safe. It’s probably why they have a good reputation. Roofing contractors can be a challenge, lot’s of turnover, then they rush too much, it’s a hard business.”
As with most construction jobs, there are always unforseen costs. Daddario clearly stated that these would come up and had a reasonable proposal to abate the issues. Their going labor rate for unknown problems was very competitive. For example, our house had rotten fascia boards and several sheathing issues. Daddario fixed these issues for a reasonable cost and went the extra step of painting everything to match. Painting all the trim and fascia boards would have been a hassle on our two story house, but they adjusted on the fly and the house looks great, plus they saved us the cost of getting it painted. The workers also made a quick adjustment so I could get a bathroom fan installed. They just kept working, never broke stride and we got a fan vent.
The other consideration is scheduling. Roofing companies are busy and it’s typical to have to wait months for a re-roofing job… I would have waited a year, but they had an opening and fit us in. When they started our roof they had a crew on it every day, no lingering issues, no extended delays. Everything was well coordinated and they finished in three days for a two story house with several repairs. They took care of everything, including the inspections.
We’ve gotten many compliments on the roof and we’ve already recommended them to several neighbors.

I want to start off by saying, Steve Daddarrio is an amazing human being. I am one of the many individuals affected by the floods in the Pajaro Ca area. Steve approached my sister and told her that he would be coming to help clean out the large amounts of garbage pile up. Sure enough, couple days later, Steve and his crew showed up and they cleaned out all the debris and garbage that came from the floods. In order to get our homeowners insurance ( ours wouldn’t renew because of the CZU fire) we needed to get repairs on our roof. And this was through the Fair Plan! We received several quotes and they all quoted for a whole new roof costing thousands of dollars. Daddario came out and gave us a quote on “repairing” the roof because the whole roof did not need to be replaced.

Daddario let me know what was going on at every step in the process. We had to delay because of solar panel removal issues and they were able to reschedule soon after the panels were off the roof. The job was done quickly and they managed to finish a few hours before the big rain storm in November. The workers all took the time to answer any questions I had. We had a leak around one of our skylights and a worker was on the roof the next day. He checked the roof seals and everything was good. The seal on the glass looked wet (not the roofers’ responsibility) so he caulked around the glass which kept the next rainstorm out. We are extremely pleased with the results.

Daddario put a white silicone coating over my existing laminate roof on my Eichler house. They were prompt, personable, & explained the job. We have solar panels and they were careful in their prep work: spray washing, priming and to provide seals to all the pipes, vents and solar panel framing. All work went smoothly. Daddario is an excellent choice if you need to get your roof replaced. Our roof started leaking during a major storm and Daddario sent someone out within days to fix the leak (it held for several months until we could get on the schedule). Needless to say, we learned that the whole roof needed to be replaced. The process from the initial bid through the final construction was professional and customer friendly. The team was quick to answer any questions via email, they delivered samples to our door, and the work crews were fantastic. Every day they left the grounds spotless and before we knew it, the new roof and gutters were installed. Yay! Wow! It’s rare to find great customer service these days! Joe McNair, project mgr., went over and above when it came to our basic new roofing needs. We recently moved into our new home in Aptos. A couple things showed up on the inspection report for our roof. I felt that we should get it checked out for possible repairs. Daddario Roofing came out to examine the issues. They felt that one of the covers should be sealed and did so while they were up on the roof. There was no charge! The inspector felt that the roof should be solid. What a relief. This is definitely an honest roofing company and I would definitely use them for future roofing needs. I wanted to replace the 30-year-old roof on my Victorian house near downtown Santa Cruz. Based on reviews and recommendations from friends, I got quotes from 2 companies, Daddario and Knox. Daddario’s price was better, so I chose them. Everything went smoothly, from fine-tuning the specs and quote with Joe McNair to scheduling the job to completion of the work. The entire job, from tear-down to completion, was done in 1.5 days. The workers were polite and accomodating. They did a pretty good job of cleanup, although I do have a bit of sweeping to do. When we purchased our home in San Jose seven years ago neighbors recommended Daddario Roofing for our flat roof repairs. We had them out to patch our old gravel roof about every other year. Last year when we decided it was time to purchase a re-roof, Joe at Daddario gave us a very competitive bid a little above the low priced competition. He explained the reasons for choosing TPO material not only for the quality and endurance of the roof but also to protect the workers at Daddario from materials that can be harmful to them. The project was completed on-time, on-budget with the highest quality I’ve experienced on any repairs on my home. The tear off crew was very careful of my back yard and cleaned up perfectly after the job. They even climbed into our atrium with a ladder to sweep instead of asking to walk through our house! Amazing.
The final product speaks for itself – great attention to detail in every aspect. We had two new bathroom fans installed and they recommended an excellent electrician, Yoci who completed both within one day. David and his crew installed our new TPO roof in two days with custom drains at no extra charge and even painted the old pipes white to match the roof.

Steve at Daddario replaced the shake roof on my single family home. This involved tear-off, laying on a sheet of plywood and a layer of composite shingles. Steve also coordinated with the solar installer to get the stand-offs put in place while the roof was going in. Daddario’s estimate was in the middle of the estimates I got i.e. not the lowest. Steve (the owner) called himself to answer any questions, and the office staff who came out and those who answered questions on the phone re: color and shingle type selection were friendly yet professional. The work was done in 4 days with a day to spare. When one of the heavy trucks made marks in the dirt, Steve set out a landscaping unit to set the dirt back to how it was. The crew was fast, efficient and knew what they were doing. All in all, a very pleasant experience.

Daddario Roofing strives for high customer service and satisfaction. We had two bids for a reroof, downspouts, and gutters and Daddario was slightly lower than their competition but the reason I chose them for the job is that I had worked with Daddario several times in the past on my client roofing needs and I knew they were easy to work with and delivered what they promised. We were getting nervous because it was the end of November and the weather was getting colder and wetter and we needed a new roof. Following the reroof we were having our home painted too. Steve Daddario made sure his roofers began on 12/5 and ended 12/8 so the painters could begin on time. We had roofers, gutter/downspout installers, and painters work together and by Saturday, 12/10, our house was all set for the winter weather! Luckily for all involved, the weather cooperated and everything turned out perfect. As a follow-up to some questions I had regarding my skylights, Steve Daddario dispatched roofers to inspect and make some adjustments. His clients are not forgotten after the initial work is completed. I recommend Daddario Roofing to everyone!!

Although Daddario Roofing was booked into March, they squeezed in my roofing job on short notice. Despite the short window available, their crew removed my old roof and performed some necessary repairs to a roof board, a rafter, and a chimney/vent in half a day; they completed the roofing the next day–I had to wait longer for the inspector than for their crew. Their ability to save the Dutch gutters that were original to the house was an important consideration, and they saved me a considerable amount over other vendors’ bids, despite using the highest-quality(“50-year”)composition roofing available. Their crew left the work site cleaner than they found it, even removing the dust that had accumulated on the driveway over the past couple of months. I’ve already told several people that I’d recommend their services and will recommend Daddario Roofing to any others I know who might need roofing done. For quality and price, Daddario Roofing is the best I found.

They gave a reasonable quote, put requested plywood on the paved driveway to even out the weight of the trucks (there was no damage or depression to any of the pavers). When I called to ask if I could have the roof replaced sooner than the original scheduled date, they happened to have a cancellation for the next day. I took them up on the offer and the job was completed in just 2 days. Thoroughly organized, detail oriented. Clean job. We had ridge vents installed and got rid of the turbines. House is cooler now. I worked with the company from San Diego with my mother living in Watsonville. She is 89 years old, lives alone, has poor hearing and vision, and is very untrusting of people. She has lots of time on her hands and is a stickler for details, often times calling workers back to fix the smallest item. Daddario went above and beyond with her and when they were finished, she was absolutely raving about the contact person (Joe) and all the workers that replaced the roof on her house and her garage. She called them several times to come back and check on things she felt were not up to par and they willingly and promptly returned each time to satisfy her whims. I chose Daddario for her because of all the positive reports on Angie’s List, and I am not sorry I did. My mom was a little hesitant to hire them because she had someone in town in mind. But I convinced her that because I was not around that she needed to trust my judgment, and she was very pleased that she did. We recently replaced the roof on our home with Daddario Roofing and wanted to share our positive experience. Our old roof had started to show signs of aging and possible leaks, so we obtained bids from four roofing companies in the Bay Area (all licensed and bonded).
Of the four contractors that walked-through, Daddario Roofing was the most responsive and understood our requirements. The other contractors were vague and did not always listen to our concerns and requirements. Daddario’s pricing was very competitive and the details were clear in their proposal.
Daddario was a very excellent choice. Daddario Roofing obtained the necessary permits. Daddario Roofing was efficient, professional and courteous. The crew arrived early (very impressive) and removed the old roof and installed a new roof in one day. This included building a new curb for our existing skylight opening, closed another skylight that we no longer wished to have and replacing damaged plywood from moisture damage. They handled the City Inspector as well. It was impressive watching the process of demolition and installation of the new roof. The roofing team was magical in how they worked together and everything went very, very smoothly. We selected the CertainTeed Presidential Roof/Shadow Gray, and it looks awesome on our home.
We have no reservations for recommending Daddario Roofing. Steve Daddario, the owner, is honestly one of the most down to earth, friendly, owner/contractors we have met. And believe me, we have met quite a few contractors. One could hope that other contractors could be as professional and driven to customer satisfaction as Steve and his team is. We will definitely refer Steve and Daddario Roofing, and would definitely use them again!

Our Roofing Experience
We have a 3600 square foot house in the Santa Cruz Mountains that had a shake roof. Our concern for the fire danger reached a peak last summer when the house on the ridge behind us burned down, sending ash and burning debris everywhere.
Since the roof was more than 20 years old, it was time for it to be replaced.
Daddario Roofing provided us with samples of the various types of roofing, and we discussed some of the unique problems that we face here in the mountains, such as winds over 100 mph during the winter.
We settled on a solution that was good looking, fireproof, and met our needs.
The tear-off proceeded rapidly and was monitored by Daddario. The re-roofing went smoothly and at the end of the week, the roof was done. Following on was the replacement of all gutters and down spouts.

Just wanted to thank you for the outstanding job you did on our re-roofing here in Saratoga. We had a somewhat complicated situation – several skylights of various types, and two different roofs, one from a re-roofing 20 years ago, and another section from a large remodel done 12 years ago.
